Former champion Lennox Lewis has resolved the outstanding issue with promoter Frank Maloney. Lewis trained heavyweight David Price (15-2, 13KOs), who Maloney promotes, for last Saturday's rematch with Tony Thompson. In February, Price was stopped by Thompson in two rounds. Last Saturday Thompson was dropped in the second but came back to stop Price in the fifth.

Some of the reports out there had Maloney blaming Lewis for the loss.

"Maloney's blaming ME for this loss? Incredible! I asked for 8 weeks training.....he gave me 3. David is a great guy and he can rebound from this but there are sacrifices that have to be made to take your game to the next level. Price put Thompson down in the second round...of course I would tell him to finish him off... That's what you are supposed to do. Price took a lot of hard punches and never left his feet.....I think he was just gassed and couldn't take him out when he had the chance. I lost my voice yelling when Price put Thompson down. Thought he had him... But Thompson is a vet and remained composed. Price had this fight in his grasp... That's the most disappointing part of this loss... But he will learn from this and improve," Lewis had stated.

But Lewis would later speak to Maloney, who denied the information being circulated.

"I spoke with Maloney. He said he never said I was to blame. I take him at his word," Lewis said.
