MORE LIVE RESULTS TO COME...................

O2 Arena (Millenium Dome), Greenwich, London - Welshman Lee Selby (20-1, 8 KOs) positioned himself for a future shot at the IBF featherweight title with a masterful stoppage of previously undefeated Australian Olympian (class of 2004) Joel Brunker (27-1, 15 KOs) in nine one-sided rounds. The contest was the IBF final eliminator for a title, held by Russian Evgueny Gradovich, as Brunker came in as the IBF #3 (also WBO #15) and Selby - as IBF #6 (also WBO #7) 126lber.

TBRB #8 rated Selby started the bout cautiously - as usual - working on a backfoot, measuring his opponent with an annoying jab. Brunker, who was fighting for the first time in 14 months, was aggressive, trying to press Selby, to corner him for an all-out offensive. Unfortunately for him, Selby was nowhere to be found, as he moved sneaky and elusively along the ropes, used the sidesteps and upper body movement to diminish any punishment from Brunker.

The Welshman took his time and wasn't in hurry of counter-offensive, but every time he exploded, Brunker was forced to either stop instantly or to retreat for a moment. Selby effectively increased his punch output in mid rounds, while Brunker, completely frustrated and mildly beaten, started to show signs of fatigue. Selby became more offensive in the eighth but it was in the ninth when he has finally started to damage the Australian. The native of Barry, Wales, hurt his opponent with a major left hook to the body and continued pummeling of Brunker with a variety of punches until Joel was found sitting on the ropes, with referee Markus McDonnell waving it off.

Official time of stoppage was 2:39 of the ninth round. Next for Selby is the winner of a battle of unbeatens between IBF champion and TBRB #4 Evgueny Gradovich (19-0, 9 KOs) and Puerto-Rican Jayson Velez (22-0, 16 KOs) to be fought on November 29 in Omaha, Nebraska.

In his second attempt at a vacant BBBofC English light welterweight title, Tyler "Tornado" Goodjohn (11-3, 4 KOs) played a number on previously undefeated "Pretty" Ricky Boylan (12-1, 4 KOs), scoring a close majority decision over ten rounds. Goodjohn started extremely confident, dealing a good share of damage to Boylan in round one. The entire beginning of the contest was also Goodjohn's but in the mid rounds Boylan has gradually worked his way into the fight, delivering pressure and punches, attacking Goodjohn from all angles. The challenger showed grit and poise on defensive though Boylan looked a better man in the closing rounds of the bout. While one judges had it 96-96 - a draw, two others saw it 96-94 - for Goodjohn, who lost a bid at the very same title in April to 27-1 Tyrone Nurse.

We expect gorillas to be specifically tough, when coming out of Africa, their homeland. But this time it was London's John "The Gorilla" Ryder who improved his record to respected 19-1, 11 KOs, and threw himself back into contention with a one-sided drubbing of a hard-nosed but overmatched Ghanaian Theophilus Tetteh in five rounds. Ryder also acquired a vacant WBA I/C title in this fight.

Southpaw Ryder, 26, wasted no time in proving his superiority over the Ghanaian fighter. He measured him with his sticky jab in round one and forced Tetteh into some roughhouse tactics. Ryder continued to land crisper, harder shots in the second stanza. His left uppercut and right hook were especially dangerous. Referee Richie Davis also granted no favors to the African import as he penalized him in the third for continuous holding.

Ryder's domination was more and more evident in rounds four and five. Tetteh (16-7-2, 9 KOs), originally a welterweight, was hit hard in the corners and responded only with grabbing and holding, forcing Davis to deduct another point in round five. Late in the fifth, Ryder connected with another left hand to put Tetteh on a queer street. The referee stopped it immediately after that at 2:56 of the 5th stanza.
