During a recent interview with BoxingScene.com's David Greisman, the trainer of Paul Williams (40-2, 27KOs), George Peterson, discussed his fighter's desire to redeem his past performance against Erislandy Lara (15-1-1, 10KOs). Williams won a close twelve round majority decision over Lara in July. Many at ringside, and on television, saw Lara as the winner. Lara's manager, Luis DeCubas Jr. speaks to BoxingScene.com about Peterson's comments regarding a rematch.

BoxingScene.com: Are you shocked that after 6 months now Team Williams comes on record about a Lara rematch?

I wasn't sure if they had moved out of the United States or just entered a witness protection program. Look, these guys are all talk they want no piece of Lara. Before the decision Williams and Peterson were begging for a rematch. He got his Christmas gift early this year. They disappeared into the night and now he comes out of left field with this. C'mon It doesn't matter what Peterson says, its what Williams and his team do. Paul wants to clear the record with Lara its easy fight him again. Also, id like to thank him for basically admitting the loss because then there would be no reason to talk about a rematch.

BoxingScene.com: What do you think about Peterson saying Williams had a bad night?

He's delusional. First, during the whole fight he was telling Williams he needs a knockout then he says Paul won, now he says you don't have to show up every fight? He's looking for any excuse to the beating Lara put on Williams. Stop talking neither one of us have an opponent let's do it on January 21. The fact of the matter is that he's trying to get publicity and make it seem like they would fight Lara again. But 'Gatos' you know it ain't happening.

BoxingScene.com: How do you feel about his comments that they couldn't execute, comparing it to sex?

The only thing they executed was getting hit over and over again with the same punch. I don't know how sex goes with his wife or how you translate sex to boxing but I know if you'd equal sex to the beat down we gave Williams, I would say Williams is sore, hurt and pregnant, with twins. Laughs. This guy talks about Williams fears no one he's beaten everyone he's foughten. He's wrong and if he feels Williams had a bad night well let do it again and prove it.

BoxingScene.com: How do you think a rematch plays out?

Lara blasts right through him. C'mon its an easy fight we end his career. If Team Williams accepts a rematch I guarantee you Lara retires him that night! I respect Paul a lot he's a very good fighter with tons of heart. But you know what be a man if you win you win if you lose you lose just admit it. Its not his fault its the judges fault and that why all three of them were suspended indefinitely including the one who scored it a draw.

BoxingScene.com: Closing?

We look forward to fight in Jan or Feb. Just waiting for Golden Boy Promotions to get back to us. If its not Williams due to that he needs a tune-up that's fine. Lara showed the whole world he's a better fighter than Williams by light years. If Mr. Peterson can convince Paul Williams and his handlers to do the re-match consider it done, we'd love to put an end to Williams tremendous career.
