It has now been disclosed that famed Youtube sensation, boxer and MMA fighter Kimbo Slice, who died Monday at age 42, was diagnosed with heart failure and his family was advised that he would need a transplant, according to the Medical Examiner's report.

The Sun Sentinel reported that Slice was admitted to Northwest Medical Center in Margate on June 3, complaining of severe abdominal pain, shortness of breath and nausea, according to information the hospital reported to Broward County's medical examiner's office.

Slice was found to have a liver mass and congestive heart failure, and was placed on a ventilator in intensive care, according to the report. As Slice's condition declined, doctors advised his family he would need a heart transplant, the report states.

Slice, whose real name was Kevin Ferguson, was a strip club bouncer and bodyguard who began competing in unsanctioned street fights in 2003. Youtube videos of his violent knockout victories became wildly popular online.

He eventually moved over to MMA, fighting for EliteXC, UFC and Bellator - and had a 5-2 record. He was never the most talented of MMA fighters, but he was one of the most popular and well-known figures in the sport - generating very high ratings for every company he worked for.

Slice returned to MMA last year after a five-year absence. He beat Dhafir "Dada 5000" Harris with a third-round knockout in February, but the result was overturned after Slice tested positive for steroid use. Slice was scheduled to headline the Bellator 158 show in London next month in a bout against James Thompson.

During his time away from MMA, Slice began a pro boxing career going 7-0 with six knockouts from 2011-13. His boxing career was guided by promoter Gary Shaw, who gave Slice his first big break when he was running EliteXC. Slice's last boxing fight took place in Australia as part of the Daniel Geale vs. Anthony Mundine II undercard.
