British star Amir Khan believes Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) will return next year to pursue his 50th victory.

Khan has been chasing Mayweather since 2013, but the fight never came together.

On September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mayweather retired after winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Andre Berto.

Virgil Hunter, who trains Khan and Berto, believes Mayweather will remain retired and won't return in the future.

Mayweather has earned a massive fortune over the course of his 19-year career. In one fight alone, against Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd, he earned $300 million.

"Yes I think it was his last fight, I don’t think he will come back. I think the reason why is because of the negativity associated with him getting 49-0 and coming back, and the talk of records and who deserved it and who didn’t deserve it," Hunter told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"I don’t think he will come back at all, and he has no reason to because I don’t think he would be given full credit for breaking 49-0 anyways. That was let known to him before he even retired, so why should he risk anything to break that record that so many people won’t acknowledge? I think it was a wise decision and I believe he’s true to the decision and I hope he keeps his word, I hope he stays retired."
