Former junior welterweight champion Junior Witter (37-3, 22KOs), who lost two of his last three bouts and inactive since August 2009, has been approached for a possible shot at WBA 140-pound champion Amir Khan, according to Amir's father Shah Khan. Team Khan has been having a lot of trouble attempting to secure an opponent for Khan's next fight which takes place on April 16 at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England.

Negotiations with Lamont Peterson, Paul McKloskey and several others have broken down over money. Khan is set to start training next week with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles. If a deal with Witter was reached, he may be required to cancel his upcoming fight on February 19 in Ontario.

"Junior is on our list. He's an ex-world champion who lost a split to Tim Bradley, who Amir hopes to fight. So no one can criticise his pedigree," said Shah Khan to The Sun.
