British star Amir "King" Khan (31-3, 19KOs) says he is more than a big enough name to take on WBC/WBO/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs)  on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather recently brushed Khan off when asked if he was willing to face the Bolton fighter in the fall. While he said in a few interviews that Khan's name did not have enough value, Mayweather named Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield as his potential opponents for the upcoming Showtime pay-per-view. Mayweather claims the fight will be the final bout of his pro career.

"When Floyd said Amir Khan is not big enough to fight me...I'll give you an example [on why I'm big enough]. I'm the third biggest fighter on social media with 1.6 million followers and 3 million on Facebook and so. If you look at my last fight [with Chris Algieri in May], which matters more than anything because Floyd wants the pay-per-view buys. The fight was on Spike TV and had the biggest rating in the last eight years [peak rating for a boxing match on a Friday night]," Khan told BoxingScene.com/Be Real TV.

"And it was up against a big ice hockey game in the same state as well [NHL playoffs between New York and Tampa Bay]. If you look at the venue, it was a full, packed venue. A lot of fans bought tickets to watch me fight. Paulie Malignaggi was supposed to fight that  night. He pulled out and they thought it would affect ticket sales but it didn't."

"When Floyd says I'm not big enough....I'm bigger than Maidana and I beat him and Floyd fought him twice. I'm bigger than Ortiz, Judah. I'm bigger than Guerrero. All these guys he fought, I'm a bigger name than them. Not only do I bring American fans to the table I also bring the UK fans, and the UAE fans, Asia, the population of India, Pakistan. We bring a lot to the table. Floyd is not known in that part of the world but I'll bring that to the table."
