Middleweight Junior Castillo (12-1, 10 KOs) scored a picturesque one-punch knockout of Taronze Washington (17-22, 9 KOs) in the main event of the latest Savarese Boxing fight night at the Ballroom at Bayou Place in Houston.

Midway through the opening round, Castillo, a southpaw, shot a left straight down the pipe that dropped Washington like a bullet. Washington struggled to his feet at the count of eight but referee Sam Garza opted to wave the fight over. Castillo represented the Dominican Republic at the 2012 London Olympics.

It was the venue's inaugural boxing show. The event also brought professional boxing back to downtown Houston for the first time since 2012.

Welterweight Curtis Johnson (5-0, 4 KOs)  dropped southpaw Robert Hill (5-30-1, 1 KO) in the second round but was forced to go the distance for the for the first time in his career. Johnson had to settle for a four round victory by scores of 38-37 (twice) and  39-36. Hill kwas a better fighter than his dismal record suggests and, if not for the knockdown, the bout would have been a majority draw.

Joseph Rabotte (11-30-1, 3 KOs) and Jamal Woods (10-30-6, 9 KOs), two overweight heavyweights, engaged in an entertaining  four round brawl. Both ripped vicious shots to each other's flabby bellies throughout the fight. Woods, the busier of the two, scored a flash knockdown at the end of round two and was rewarded with a unanimous decision for his higher punch output.

Light heavyweight Neller Obregon (3-0, 1  KO) worked his right hand overtime to outpoint Jhaquis Davis (record unknown) over four rounds. Obregon rocked Davis with clubbing rights on several occasions but Davis hung tough and weathered the storm.

Eduardo Garcia (1-0) made a successful pro debut winning a four round decision over Chris Gutierrez (0-2) in a middleweight bout.

Southpaw Raphael Igbokwe (5-0, 2 KOs) outpointed a survival-minded Carlos Dixon (1-8-1, 1 KO) over four rounds in a light heavyweight bout.
