Super flyweight Juan José "Goofy" Montes has vowed to come back stronger after recently being stopped within twelve rounds by WBC champion Tomas Rojas. The fight took place last Saturday in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas. Upon his return to Guadalajara, Montes said he lost the battle but not war, and this year he expects to recover his position. Montes never left the corner to start the twelfth round fight against Rojas. His corner decided that he had no chance because of the superiority displayed by Rojas. Montes wanted to stay in the fight, but accepted the direction of his handlers.

"I lacked experience [to beat Rojas]. I have to keep learning. I watched the video of the fight, and I saw that I made mistakes," Montes said.
