Two days ago BoxingScene.com reported that a fight between former WBA/IBF/WBO lightweight champion Juan Diaz and WBO #1 rated contender Ray Beltran was nearly finalized for June 28th. Diaz had told BoxingScene.com that he had already agreed to the fight that was going to serve as the co-feature to the title tilt between WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford and Yuriorkis Gamboa.  The winner of the Diaz-Beltran bout would likely have faced the winner of the main event in their next fight.

Diaz reached out to BoxingScene.com and said that while he agreed to the fight, Beltran decided to pass on the fight.

"I just got the call.  Beltran turned the fight down so the fight is off," Diaz told BoxingScene.com.

Beltran last fought on the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley undercard on April 12th and multiple sources have advised BoxingScene.com that Beltran turned the fight down due to the quick turnaround, saying that he wouldn't be ready in time.

It is not known at this time if Diaz will still appear on the card.
