Juan Diaz was slated to face Takehiro Ao on May 1st at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in a lightweight contest but sources have told Boxingscene.com that Diaz suffered a torn ligament in his left shoulder last Saturday while training.

He is expected to be sidelined approximately six months.

Ray Beltran, who is coming off a points loss to Terence Crawford in November is expected to take the place of Diaz versus Ao. Beltran-Ao is expected to be for the vacant WBO lightweight title, which Crawford just recently vacated.
