Hulking (6'8'') Polish giant Mariusz Wach (31-1, 17 KOs) continued his recent winning streak and also reportedly cemented his spot as Anthony Joshua's opponent for Sept. 12 in the UK with the sixth-round stoppage of faded German Konstantin Airich (21-11-2, 17 KOs). A fight between Wach and 2012 London Olympics super heavyweight gold medalist, was announced by Wach's promoter Mariusz Kolodziej via Twitter.

Airich, 36, was no match for Wach, 1 year younger. He was brave and willing but he was rapidly fading under the Pole's heavy fire. Wach chose not to rush in but to box and he used his left jab effectively to keep shorthanded Airich at bay. The German's punches lacked power; they were pitifully soft for his granite-chinned opponent. Wach added classic Klitschkoesque right bombs in the third, rocking Airich. The latter continued to be pounded in the next two rounds, and by the midst of the sixth Konstantin was battered badly and very exhausted. He took a small pause to spit his mouthpiece, then got pummeled again and finally stopped at 2:39 of the sixth.

Wach scored his fourth win (second via kayo) since October 2014, which followed after his two-year lay-off. Wach lost a one-sided decision to Wladimir Klitschko before that, showing enormous punch-absorbing ability. He was then tested positive for steroids and banned for quite a time. WBC #2 and WBO #7 Joshua (13-0, 13 KOs) also faced Airich and stopped him in three the last fall. He will surely be forced to work much harder to knock extra durable Wach out.

Frenchman (not Luxembourgian) Jessy Luxembourger (7-0, 3 KOs) got possibly his biggest career win in a thrilling slugfest with 21-year old Pole Robert Parzeczewski (8-1, 3 KOs) in a battle of two unbeatens. 24-year old Luxembourger effectively controlled the fight from the distance but mixed it up at the middle range when needed. The locl hero was very aggressive but his hands lacked speed to land before punches of the Frenchman connected to his own head. Both combatants gave their all in the closing stages, and Luxembourger landed harder, bigger shots, forcing Parzeczewski's nose to bleed profusely. Scores were interestingly big-numbered, reflecting closeness of the bout: 79-78, 78-76, and 79-73 (as was heard by the BoxingScene) - for Luxembourger. BoxingScene had it 78-74 - also for the French import.

Upset-minded Argentinean Pablo Sosa (4-5-3, 3 KOs), known for a stoppage win over 10-0 Hungarian fighter in April and a draw against 25-3 former European light heavyweight champion Eduard Gutknecht a year ago, tried hard but wasn't exceptionally successful in a close, hard-fought collision against undefeated Pole Michal Gerlecki (11-0, 6 KOs). Gerlecki, 27, didn't look like a world-beater but showed determination and stamina to outpunch the Latino import. At the end, on judge saw the fight even 76-76, but he was overruled by the other two - one who saw it surprisingly wide (80-72) and another one who saw it equally to the BoxingScene: 77-75 - for Gerlecki.

Welterweight Michal Zerominski (9-2, 1 KO) decisioned battle-tested Hungarian veteran Laszlo Fazekas (24-20-1, 17 KO), only 25, unanimously over six rounds. Fazekas was stopped just twice in his career, and feather-fisted Zerominski failed to become the third one despite being more active in each round.

Rising lightweight Damian Wrzesinski (8-0, 4 KOs) scored an easy win over upset-minded Romanian Hungarian Oszkar Fiko (13-12, 10 KOs), who himself scored an upset win over Damian's countryman Krzysztof Cieslak a month ago. Wrzesinski used his finesse to enter close quarters and to get out without notable damage. He was also able to drop Fiko in the fourth round, and the Hungarian also lost a point in the sixth for continuous spitting of his mouthpiece. Final scores were: 60-53, 60-52 and 59-53 - for the Pole.
