Former IBF super middleweight world champion Jose “Bolivita” Uzcategui broke down and stopped Josue “Chiquilin” Obando, on Friday night in the headline bout of a card which took place at the Lienzo Charro Ajijic de Chapala in Jalisco, Mexico.

Uzcategui kept chipping away until he secured the technical knockout win at 51 seconds of the eighth round.

The victory have him his 24th knockout in 30 wins. Uzcategui wants to get himself in position for a world title shot.

Back in December of 2019, Uzcategui was shocked when he suffered his fourth career defeat by way of a ten round unanimous decision at the hands of Lionell Thompson.

Mexican boxer Edwin “Pupo” Palomares picked up another knockout victory, in the co-featured attraction.

Palomares and Cesar “Perico” Ramirez engaged in a ten round give and take battle at super bantamweight.

Both boxers brought out the best in their arsenal, and when everything indicated that the fight would be going the distance, Palomares struck a tremendous right hand on Ramirez, who fell unconscious and was declared out cold at 2:58 of the tenth round.

Also on the card, Amado Vargas, son of three-time world champion Fernando “Feroz” Vargas, achieved his second win in the professional field, by securing a unanimous decision win over Ruben Tonatiuh Calvo.

Vargas boxed his way to three official scorecards of 39-37 in a four round bout.
