MGM Grand, Las Vegas - A jubilant Jorge Arce arrived to the post fight press conference with his family at his side after exciting victory over the previously undefeated Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.  "El Travieso", sporting a nasty gash from a clash of heads with Vazquez was in one of his typical chatty moods after his title winning performance that stole the show on the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley pay-per-view broadcast.  Arce is frequently in the news and on talk shows in his native Mexico and is a very popular fighter in his home country.

All week long Arce told BoxingScene and everyone else in the media that he would knockout the younger, faster, and fresher Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.  Most people didn't give Arce, who was as high as a 12-1 underdog much of a chance against Vazquez.

"I told you!  I told you!  You remember right?  I told you I would knock him out.  I felt good for this fight.  I trained hard and didn't have to lose all that weight.  I trained to box and not to make weight," said an excited Arce to BoxingScene.

Arce became the first fighter from Mexico to capture world championships in 4 different weight divisions.  Arce began his career at 108 pounds and also captured titles at 112 and 115 pounds to go along with his new WBO 122 pound title.  Arce was extremely proud of the victory and said, "I feel great to have won this belt. I am so happy.   4 time champion!  I am a 4 time champion!  I told you I would do it!"

There will be a debate as to the validity of his flyweight title however.  Arce captured the WBC interm flyweight title and defended it 4 four times but didn't ever become the full fledged WBC champion in the weight class.  The fact that he defended the interm title 4 times has led many to recognize it as being a legitimate title.

The Los Mochis, Sinaloa native was classy in speaking about Vazquez Jr.  When he rocked the Puerto Rican in the 11th round he said that he knew that Vazquez was there for the taking and didn't want the fight to go to the scorecards. "Vazquez is a great fighter.  He is very strong.  I knew I had him at the end of the 11th and that is why I came after him in the 12th round so fast.  I thought the fight was close and I wanted to make sure I won."

Arce closed our interview by saying that he had promised his kids that he would win the title and also had a surprise for them.  "I had to win this fight.  I told my kids I was going to win.  Now I am going to rest but first I am going to take them to Disneyland!"
