Gimnasio Polifuncional, Los Mochis, Mexico - In his 70th fight as a 12 year pro, former four division world champion Jorge Arce left the ring with a record of 64-6, 46 KOs - after winning a ten round unanimous decision over Mauricio Martinez (37-13, 24 KOs) in a super bantamweight clash. The scores were 97-92, 99-90 and 99-90. Arce complained afterwards that Martinez only came to survive and did nothing to make it an exciting contest.

Juan Carlos Sánchez struggled at times but he retained his IBF super flyweight world title by scoring a sensational ninth round knockout over Filipino challenger Rodel Mayol. At 2:25, American referee Allen Huggins counted to ten after Mayol was went flying out of the ring and to the announcers table from from a powerful left-right combination - and the crowd went wild.

Sanchez (15-1, 8 KOs) started slow, and Mayol (32-6, 22 KOs) came to make it war - which quickly put him ahead on the scorecards as he pressed with big punches that shook the champion up. By the seventh, Juan Carlos took control of the fight and caused a cut above the right eyebrow of Mayol. The Filipino boxer was taking plenty of punishment in the eight and then he was finally finished off in the ninth after appearing to be exhausted.

Jorge's nephew, Oscar Arce (8-1, 8 KOs) scored a TKO at 1:35 of the second over flyweight Eleazar Valenzuela.
