Former super bantamweight contender Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo will return to the ring after almost 10 months when he faces Brian Ramirez as part of the show headlined by the clash of Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez and Giovani Segura on August 17 at the International Ballroom of El San Juan Resort and Casino in Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) presentation, in association with Top Rank to be broadcast on DIRECTV.

“We will have Jonathan Oquendo, a Puerto Rico fan favorite, in one of the principal fights for this show. Oquendo has not fought in almost 10 months, but he is training hard to be in good shape for this fight and seeking a good place in the featherweight division”, said PRBBP Vice-President, Peter Rivera.

Oquendo (22-3, 15 KOs) comes off a seven round TKO loss against former world champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in a spectacular fight held on October 6, 2012 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. This time, Oquendo will fight versus Ramirez (10-4, 5 KOs), a Los Angeles native fighter, in a bout scheduled to eight rounds in the featherweight division.

Headlining the card Bomba Gonzalez (13-0, 11 KOs), the WBO #7 ranked in the flyweight division, will face former world champion Giovani Segura (29-3-1, 25 KOs), a former WBA and WBO junior flyweight champion, for the WBO Latino flyweight title scheduled to 10 rounds.

Six more fights will complete the card.
