Unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Jessy Martinez notched another victory last week, knocking out Carlos Huerta in the opening round at the LA Exchange in Los Angeles, California.

With the victory, Martinez improves to 14-0, 9 knockouts.

The 26-year-old Martinez, who resides in the Los Angeles suburb of Woodland Hills, ended matters 2:26 as referee Wayne Hedgpeth stopped the fight, preventing Huerta from taking further punishment.

Martinez fought four times in 2019. He has fought all of his professional fights on club shows throughout the Los Angeles area, most of them on Bash Boxing/ PR Sports Promotions cards. His last nine bouts have been scheduled for six rounds.

Huerta, who resides in the boxing hotbed of Guadalajara, Mexico, drops to 6-5-2, 3 KOs. He is winless in his last four bouts.

Featherweight Adan Ochoa of Los Angeles resident defeated Juan Jimenez by technical decision in the fifth round.

During an exchange, Jimenez was cut over his eye from accidental head-butt. After consulting with the ringside physician, referee Sharon Sands stopped the fight as the cut was deemed too deep to allow the fight to continue. Time of the stoppage was 1:11.

Scores were 50-45, 50-45, and 49-46 for Ochoa, who improves to 11-1, 4 KOs. The 21-year-old Lopez has won his last nine bouts since suffering his only loss of his career at the hands of Adam Lopez, who was stopped by Oscar Valdez on Nov. 30.

Jimenez, who resides in Antofagasta, Chile, drops to 8-9 1 ND, 1 KO.

Welterweight Vlad Panin defeated veteran Daniel Perales (11-19-2, 5 KOs) of Mexico by unanimous decision over four rounds.

All three judges scored the bout 40-36 in favor of Panin (7-0, 4 KOs), who is originally from Belarus and now resides in Los Angeles.

In welterweight action, 19-year-old Austin Gudino defeated Nohelin Hernandez (0-4) of Gilroy, California by unanimous decision.

All three judges scored the bout 40-36 in favor of Gudino, who improves to 5-0, 3 KOs. Gudino resides in the Los Angeles suburb of West Covina.
