On Saturday former two-division world champion Jessie Vargas (28-2-1) will make his debut under the Matchroom USA Boxing banner when he faces welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme (24-3) in Chicago.

This will be Vargas' second fight of the year. In April he battled Adrien Broner to a draw in an exciting fight in New York.  For Dulorme it will be his first fight since losing a close decision to Yordenis Ugas last August on the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor undercard.

The 29-year-old Vargas is very excited about fighting on Matchroom's first card streamed on DAZN that will take place on American soil.

“I feel blessed to be in this position and I’m happy with how it’s turning out. Eddie Hearn is a great promoter and we are going to make big moves together. First move is to shine and perform for my fans October 6th on DAZN. The fight will be held at the Wintrust arena in Chicago. We are certain that the Chicago fans in attendance and watching on the app will enjoy a great night of boxing," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.

The WBC silver welterweight title will be at stake which means the winner of the fight will eventually get a crack at WBC welterweight champion Shawn Porter. However the WBC welterweight situation is a bit cluttered with former champion Keith Thurman (who vacated the title because of injury), and mandatory challengers Andre Berto and Yordenis Ugas also in line to face Porter.

Regardless of the situation, Vargas knows that he will be in a great position with a victory on Saturday.

"My preparation for this fight has been magnificent and it will show come fight time. I’m planning to make a statement and I will accomplish it. Also, fighting for the WBC title has increased the stakes and added even more motivation to be victorious in a impressive fashion, since it will bring me closer to the gold which is what is my ultimate goal," said Vargas.

The entire fight card will be streamed on DAZN and includes the WBA super bantamweight title fight pitting Danny Roman against Gavin McDonell and IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev's title defense against Callum Johnson.
