A lot was on the line for Jessie Vargas (27-1) on March 5th when he faced the then unbeaten Sadam Ali (22-1) in Washington DC.  Not only was the vacant WBO welterweight title at stake and a chance to become a two-division champion but also the opportunity to bounce back from an unanimous decision loss against Tim Bradley and secure bigger fights in the future.

The bigger fight has arrived.  At first it looked like he would face Kell Brook in an unification clash in the United Kingdom but instead of that he will be in an even bigger fight against former 8-division Manny Pacquiao in a pay-per-view headliner.  The bout takes place November 5th at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"It feels great," said Vargas. "I have been looking forward to getting back in the ring and giving my fans a great performance and now I have the opportunity to do so and not in just a normal fight but a mega-fight against Manny Pacquiao.  A fighter who is one of the top in this era and to be able to show my ability and talent against him and what I am capable of. It is an amazing opportunity and I can't wait for it."

When the Brook fight first fell out, Vargas admitted to BoxingScene.com that he was disappointed but felt that a big fight was still on the horizon.  Vargas stayed positive and now is in an envious position.

"Like I talked to you about it before, everything happens for a reason and something bigger will come and I had patience and full confidence that everything will line up in the right direction and it has. Now we are facing Manny Pacquiao, a great fighter and not only a great fighter but a fighter who always gives action packed fights so now I know that me giving my all and him giving his all - we are two forces who will be attacking each other. It makes for fireworks and a great night of boxing," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.
