Former super lightweight champion Jessie Vargas (26-1) raised a few eyebrows on the conference call for his March 5th fight against Sadam Ali (22-0).  The vacant WBO welterweight title will be at stake in the HBO televised fight.

The Las Vegas, Nevada based Vargas said that he planned on being very aggressive and that he would make Ali quit on his stool.

Ali recently spoke to BoxingScene.com and said that he was surprised at those comments, saying that he had never quit in the amateurs, pros or even in sparring.  He went on to say that if anybody is going to quit in the fight it will be Vargas.

When that response was relayed to Vargas, he said that he hopes Ali will try to prove him wrong.

"If that is the way he looks at, I am glad and happy he feels that way because he is going to try and prove me wrong and try to make it a fight and that is what we want," Vargas explained.

Ali is more of a boxer than a stand and trade type of fighter but Vargas says that regardless of what style the New Yorker brings to the ring he will be ready.

"He likes to move around and use his speed and use angles but we have been working on how to shut him down. Anything he wants to do - if he wants to stand and fight we are there, if he wants to move around we are there so we will be ready for anything he does," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.
