Home Depot Center, Los Angeles - In a bout for the USAB/WBC Continental Americas super junior middleweight titles, Jermell Charlo (21-0, 10KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over veteran Demetrius Hopkins (33-3-1, 13KOs). All three judges had it 115-113.

Charlo controlled the action in the early rounds with his aggression, an active left jab and follow-up power shots. Hopkins stayed defensive, didn't throw enough punches and he was very tentative to counter and/or engage Charlo. In the later rounds, the fight dragged on with Charlo looking to land something big but Hopkins never allowed him to connect with more than one shot. It wasn't a pretty fight to watch and the live crowd often voiced their displeasure.
