Sources with knowledge of the negotiations have advised BoxingScene.com that Jermain Taylor's handlers have rejected Joachim Alcine (33-2-1, 19KOs) as a possible opponent for a potential Showtime televised return on April 14th.

After initially being interested, Taylor's handlers became reluctant to match their boxer against a fighter with Alcine's style in Taylor's second fight back from a two-year layoff. The news of Taylor's handlers taking another direction didn't sit too well with Alcine's team, who believed the Taylor fight was going to go through.

The likely opponent for Taylor (29-4-1, 18KOs) is undefeated Minnesota middleweight Caleb Truax (18-0-1, 10KOs).
