Jay Farrell will fight for a title in the first quarter of this year.

The cruiserweight has had two wins since suffering his maiden defeat as a professional.

Farrell was stopped by Kent Kauppinen at the Eventim Olympia in his home city of Liverpool back in June.

He then returned with points victories against Dmitrij Kalinovskij and Elvis Dube to end the year.

But he will head back to the scene of his sole loss on March 14 when he takes on Damian Chambers for the vacant Central Area cruiserweight title.

The show will be promoted by Steve Wood for VIP Boxing Promotions and streamed exclusively live on VIP Boxing TV.

Chambers, who will be in the opposite corner, is trained by Matthew Hatton and has a ledger of 10-1.

The 31-year-old is going into the fight after losing in the final of the Ultimate Boxxer tournament back in July and returning with a win in December against Mladen Manev.

Dexter Makaza, who is training at the famous Salisbury ABC gym in Liverpool, will make his professional debut on the card and will be joined by gym-mates Mathew Rennie and Nathan Quarless, the latter of whom moved to 6-0 at the back end of last year with a four-round victory over Andrius Ruzas.

Nathan Bennett, who has recently moved back to his old amateur gym, will have a warm-up fight before vying for a belt later in the year and there is action for Matty Fagan, Marcos Molloy and Tom Aitchison.

Both Molloy and Aitchison were last in action back in November at the M&S Bank Arena in their home city where they got wins on the undercard of Callum Smith’s WBA Super, WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine world super-middleweight title defence against John Ryder, exclusively live on Sky Sports and DAZN, while Fagan boxed in October as he outpointed Lee Hallett at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village and he will be joined by Sean Turner, the heavyweight who was last in action in November.

Further additions to the card are likely to be made in due course.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned promoter Wood will once again team up with David Nelson of Trinity Entertainment Boxing for a show at Leisure and Culture Park in Huyton, Knowsley.

The pair staged a successful co-promotion back in December at the same venue and the card featured former IBF world bantamweight champion Paul Butler.

Joe Kavanagh, who boxed on that card, will fight on this one, alongside Kirkby’s Shawn Hughes, with further additions to be revealed soon.
