Dante Jardon and Jeffrey Arienza both easily made weight ahead of their crossroads bout Saturday evening in Mexico City, Mexico.

The pair of fringe contenders were well within the contracted lightweight limit. Jardon tipped the scales at 133.2 lbs. for his second straight fight in his hometown, while Arienza weighed in at 132.75 lbs.

Jardon (25-5, 20KOs) rediscovered the win column with a 10-round decision over previously unbeaten Patricio Moreno this past January. The victory snapped a two-fight skid for the free-swinging brawler, who last win came in Aug. '13.

A shot at reigning 130 lb. titlist ended miserably, falling in nine rounds to Takashi Miura on the road in Japan in their Dec. '13 clash. Jardon's lone piece of ring action in 2014 came in a decisive points loss to countryman Adrian Estrella, though the first to go the distance with the unbeaten knockout artist, who had starched all 20 previous opponents.

Arienza (12-3-1, 7KOs) fights outside of Philippines for just the third time in his career. The 24-year old southpaw is 0-2 on the road, including a shocking six rounds points loss last November, versus a fighter just 0-0-1 heading into the bout.

The major upset snapped a three-fight win streak, albeit versus nondescript competition.

The evening's chief support features a Mexico in-ring Civil War between Edgar Puerta and Miguel Roman. Both fighters came in at the 135 lb. lightweight limit, although both fighters primarily campaign at junior lightweight. The winner is believed to be dispatched to Japan, the latest in a long list of contenders from Mexico to take a run at Miura, who has gained a reputation as a "Mexican killer" - figuratively speaking, of course.

Puerta (23-5-1, 19KOs) suffered a 6th round knockout loss to the excellent titlist from Japan in his most recent start last November. The bout brough to an end a 12-fight win streak.

Roman (49-11, 37KOs) is enjoying his best run since his early days as an unbeaten prospect. The battle-tested veteran has won 11 fights in a row heading into Saturday's clash, including a 6th round disqualification win over Adrian Verdugo this past Valentine's Day in Los Mochis, Mexico.

Both bouts will air live on Televisa in Mexico.
