Echo Arena, Liverpool - Olympic gold medal winner James DeGale (20-1, 14KOs) stopped usually durable Mexican contender Marco Antonio Periban (20-3-1, 13KOs) in three rounds. After controlling the first two rounds of action, DeGale landed a crushing left hand in the third and then landed another left hand to send Periban crashing down below the ropes.

Periban made it up to beat the count, but he was out on his feet and the referee waved things off. Periban is usually very durable and it was his first stoppage defeat. He previously went the distance with Sakio Bika, J'Leon Love and Badou Jack.

DeGale is the IBF mandatory challenger to champion and Matchroom stablemate Carl Froch.
