Carl Frampton could have his next fight confirmed within weeks.

The Northern Irishman was most recently in action in November when he outpointed Tyler McCreary over 10 rounds at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, exclusively live on ESPN+ Stateside and in the UK on BT Sport.

Frampton, 32, dropped his American foe, who is now 16-1-1 with seven quick finishes, twice with body shots, despite damaging his left hand which had fractured twice during his training camp.

And after revealing that the right hand was injured during the fight against McCreary, Frampton was forced to take time out ahead of his next challenge.

His next challenge would lie in the shape of WBO world super-featherweight champion Jamel Herring and ‘The Jackal’ is expected to be given home advantage for the clash.

Boxing Scene understands Windsor Park stadium, in Belfast, on June 13 will be the date and venue for the fight which is “90 percent done”.

Herring, a former US marine, has a record of 21-2 with 10 quick and has made one defence of the title he won back in May 2019 with a victory over Masayuki Ito.

“I’m assuming ink on the contract is that other 10 per cent,” he added, “and I don’t see it going anywhere else but Belfast either.

“All we need to do is sign on the dotted line [and] then give the world a good show.”

A formal announcement of Frampton’s challenge against Herring is expected to be made once Frampton is punching again after having surgery on his hand injuries pre-Christmas.

Meanwhile, Carl Frampton’s promoter Bob Arum also looks after Michael Conlan.

Conlan returns to the ring on March 17 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, exclusively live on ESPN+, when he takes on Colombia’s Belmar Preciado over 10 rounds.

And it is understood that a win for Conlan against Preciado, on a card promoted by Top Rank Inc. which will feature Feargal McCrory and a female fight between former WBC featherweight world champion Melissa Hernandez and undefeated Mikaela Mayer, will result in him challenging for a world title at featherweight at this year’s Feile an Phobail festival at the Marquee at Falls Park in Belfast on a date to be confirmed in August.
