Mexico's Hugo Cazares (40-8-2, 27KOs) is reportedly interested in securing a battle of former champions with Vic Darchinyan. Cazares was last seen in April, getting knocked out in two rounds by highly regarded super bantamweight Carl Frampton.

Darchinyan (39-7-1, 28KOs) suffered back to back knockout defeats, at featherweight. Ahead on the scorecards, Darchinyan was stopped in nine by Nonito Donaire last November and then returned in May where he was knocked out in five by Nicholas Walters.

Cazares is targeting a return date in December. Darchinyan has wins over several notable Mexican opponents like Jorge Arce, Tomas Rojas, Cristian Mijares, Victor Burgos, Alex Montiel and Rodrigo Guerrero.
