It was reported earlier this year that Howard Davis Jr, gold medal winner for the United States at the 1976 Olympics in the lightweight division was suffering from Stage-4 lung cancer.  Davis not only won the award of best boxer from the tournament but also went on to have a successful professional career and subsequently became a trainer.

Earlier today BoxingScene.com was contacted by Howard’s son, Dyah Davis, himself a contender recently in the super middleweight division.  Sadly, Dyah informed us that things have taken a turn for the worse and kindly asks if anyone is able to donate to the Howard Davis J Foundation as medical costs have now spiralled.  The Davis family are grateful for any support possible.
