The bad blood is over between Bernard Hopkins and Jean Pascal. On Saturday night, Hopkins captured the WBC/IBO light heavyweight titles with a twelve round unanimous decision at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. During the press tour and the pre-fight hype, the two boxers nearly came to blows and the verbal fireworks were heavy. After Hopkins became the oldest fighter in boxing history to win a world title at age 46, he gave Pascal, 28, some veteran advice to improve on his stylistic flaws.

Hopkins sees talent and ability in Pascal, but he also sees problems with the boxer relying way too much on his power and not putting his punches together to throw proper combinations. Even with his flaws, Hopkins expects Pascal to come back even stronger and capture another world title before the year is out.

"Mark my words, he will be champion within a year or less because he has the goods to do it. And he should learn something from this fight because he has the talent. I told him that in the ring. But he has to work on things. He loads up on every shot because he knows he's a puncher and he wants to blow the house down, like the big bad wolf. Testosterone is going so high he wants to boom, boom," Hopkins said.

"And the old fox wanted him to do this because I just lean here and lean there. I might get hit one or two times and I rely on my chin. That was basically the fight. If he was a guy who knew how to put punches together and sneak the hard shots in between, he'd be a dangerous guy because you wouldn't be able to time him."
