IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins, who is also a partner in Golden Boy Promotions, says it is very possible that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) could face the winner of Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) vs. Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32KOs) in 2014.

Mayweather faces junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Garcia and Matthysse will battle in the co-featured bout of the evening. Showtime Pay-Per-View will carry the event.

"I could see that, [Floyd vs. Garcia-Matthysse winner], especially if it's a knockout [win] by either guy. Who else [would Floyd fight]? But Floyd doesn't have an easy fight with Canelo. People are picking Matthysse to beat Danny. I read too. And people are picking Canelo because he's bigger but [they are not so sure on that]," Hopkins told BoxingScene.com.

"Every time you get in the ring, it could be that one night when you are not at your best. This time it might not be your night for whatever reason, or the judges saw something different than you thought. Anything can happen. Neither one of these main events are sure-shots deals."
