Amir Imam submitted his entry for 2014 Knockout of the Year, drilling Jared Robinson in the fourth round of their televised co-feature.
A right hand put Robinson through the ropes and out of the ring, forcing the 31-year old to peel himself off of the floor, crawl up the stairs and back into the ring in his best effort to continue. The referee felt otherwise, however, deciding that the South Carolina native was in no position to continue.
It was an impressive showing by Imam, whose only anxious moments came early in the fight. Robinson, nicknamed 'The Quiet Storm', came out like a hurricane, going right on the attack as he tried to catch Imam off the guard. The strategy was effective for brief moments, but Imam quickly took over and remained in control.
The fight was competitiv but remained in one direction up to and including the highlight reel knockout. The official time was 1:59 of round four.
Imam improves to 13-0 (12KO) with the win. The Albany (NY) native has scored knockouts in 12 straight wins; his lone bout to go the distance came in his pro debut, having never fought longer than four rounds in any of his pro fights to date.
Robinson suffers the first loss of his career, falling to 14-1 (6KO).
