Johnson will make the first defense of her title against Ramadan on the undercard of the rematch between undisputed lightweight world champion Devin "The Dream" Haney and former champion "Ferocious" George Kambosos Jr. on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 16 local time at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Johnson (14-1, 6 KOs) seized the IBF junior featherweight world title by defeating Melissa Esquivel on April 20 at the Melbourne Convention Centre. Born in Tauranga, New Zealand, Johnson is the second Mori to win a world boxing title. She starred as an amateur in Australia before turning pro, winning three national titles and three Golden Gloves championships.

Ramadan (29-3, 12 KOs), from Preston, Victoria, Australia, is a trailblazer for women's boxing in Australia. Now a veteran of the squared circle and a two-time world champion, Ramadan has been a professional boxer for 15 years. She captured the IBF bantamweight world title in 2011 and the WBC bantamweight crown one year later. Considered one of Australia's best female boxers, Ramadan has won numerous honors over the years, including the Australian Government Sports Achievement Award.

"Women's boxing is booming in Australia. A big pay-per-view fight card needed a big women's championship fight, and this is one of the biggest that can be made in Australia. Cherneka Johnson, a young, rising champion, is giving a title opportunity to Susie Ramadan, a former champion and Aussie trailblazer for other women boxers. With Top Rank, I am excited to promote this historic bout," said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment.

Johnson said, "I am absolutely pumped to defend my world title and showcase my skills on this incredible fight card here at home in Melbourne! Looking forward to getting back in the ring and creating history!"
