Guadalupe Martinez Guzman will defend her WBC female junior bantamweight title tonight against Lourdes Juarez, promoter Oswaldo Kuchle confirmed to BoxingScene Friday afternoon.

The 10-round bout will take place at the Estudios Televisa in Mexico City and will air on Televisa throughout Mexico.

Martinez (20-9, 6 knockouts), who resides in Tlalnepantla, Mexico, has not fought since December 14 of last year, defeating Debani Balderas by unanimous decision over 10 one-sided rounds. The victory over Balderas was Martinez’s four defense of the WBC title she won by defeating Zulina Munoz in May 2017.

The 28-year-old Martinez has won her last eight bouts since losing to Jasseth Noriega in October 2016. She split her first eight fights as a pro.

Juarez (30-2 1 NC, 4 KOs), who resides in Mexico City, defeated Kandy Sandoval by majority decision in her last bout on September 11. The fight was a rematch of their clash in December 2018, which Juarez won by unanimous decision.

Since beginning her pro career in October 2013 with two losses in her first five bouts, the 33-year-old Juarez has won her 27 bouts, sandwiched around a no contest in September 2016. Her most notable bouts thus far was a split-decision victory over former world title challenger Diana Fernandez in November 2017 and a knockout victory over previously-unbeaten Leiryn Flores in March 2019.

In the co-feature, lightweight Oscar Duarte will square off against Guillermo Avila in a 10-round bout.

Duarte (19-1, 14 KOs) knocked out Andres Garcia in round 5 of his last bout on March 7 in his hometown of Parral, Mexico. Duarte has won his last four bouts since losing by split-decision to fringe contender Adrian Estrella in February 2019.

The 24-year-old Duarte is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and has fought on previous Promociones del Pueblo cards.

Avila (19-9, 14 KOs), who resides in Tijuana, Mexico, defeated Diego Eligio by unanimous decision in his last bout on November 6. Avila has won his last two bouts after losing back-to-back fights by knockout last year.

Unbeaten junior lightweight Rosario Sanchez will face hard-hitting Ricardo Garcia (8-5, 7 KOs) of Mexico City in a six-round bout.

Sanchez (13-0, 9 KOs), who resides in the boxing hotbed of Los Mochis, Mexico, knocked out Miguel Tique in round 3 of his last bout on October 31. The 21-year-old has stopped eight of his last nine opponents.
