Undefeated British & Commonwealth Super-middleweight champion George ‘The Saint’ Groves has been given a dream shot to fight for a world title against WBO champion Robert Steiglitz on May 5th.

24 year-old Groves will travel to the champion's backyard to fight for a world title in only his 15th professional contest. Steiglitz meanwhile, will be making the sixth defence of his title and will be boxing in his 44th career fight.

The fight, which will take place in Erfurt, Germany on May 5th, will see Groves return to action for the first time since dismantling Paul Smith in two rounds back in November. Whilst Stieglitz represents a step up in class for the unbeaten Londoner, the Brit remains full of confidence.gg

"I am chuffed to be given this opportunity to challenge for the WBO championship of the world", said Groves.

"Me and my team believe now is the correct time to move up to world level and are 100% confident that Britain will soon have another world champion.

"We know that Stieglitz is a great fighter and an experienced champion but we also know we have all the attributes to beat him.

"This is my time to arrive on the world scene. I had a huge fight last year winning the British title and plan to use all that experience and take it into this fight.

"I'm bringing another world title back to Britain."
