George Groves and David Brophy will collide for a title later this week.

The pair, who campaign at super middleweight, are set to clash on April 9, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Former three-time world title challenger Groves (22-3, 17 KOs) and undefeated Scotsman Brophy (16-0-1, 1 KO) will meet at the O2 Arena in London as part of the supporting cast to Anthony Joshua’s challenge of Charles Martin for the IBF heavyweight title.

And the fight, which caused a few raised eyebrows when it was announced, now has extra significance, with the vacant WBA International title being added to the bargain.

Groves will be looking to use the fight –– and title –– to get back in the world title hunt after three defeats for global honours in his career, while for Brophy it’s a chance to grab a first title as a professional.

The undercard to the pay-per-view showdown features two more world title fights as Jamie McDonnell defends his WBA bantamweight title against Fernando Vargas and Lee Selby faces his mandatory challenger, Eric Hunter, in a defence of the IBF featherweight crown.

Elsewhere, Ohara Davies and Andy Keates meet for the vacant English lightweight belt and middleweights Matthew Macklin and Brian Rose square-off in an official eliminator for the WBC world title.

And they are joined by Conor Benn, the son of former world champion Nigel, as he makes his professional debut alongside Ted Cheeseman, who is looking to remain undefeated through four contests in the paid game.
