New Zealand boxer Shane Cameron has been given a shot at Australia's Danny Green for the IBO world cruiserweight title.

The Cameron-Green fight is set to be announced at a media conference in Melbourne on Wednesday.

"This is the pinnacle of boxing - fighting for a world title - so yeah 100% this is my biggest fight," he told the New Zealand Herald.

Cameron last fought as a heavyweight, knocking Monte Barrett out in July, and he will need to lose about 9kg to take part.

Green lost the title to American Antonio Tarver last year but was handed it back after Tarver recorded a positive drug test shortly before a draw with Lateef Kayode in June this year.

The fight is expected to be held in November.
