Egis Klimas, manager of Evgeny Gradovich, is very upset with end result of Saturday's mandatory IBF featherweight title defense against Lee Selby at The O2 in London.

The fight was stopped in the eight round, and went to the scorecards, when the ringside doctor became concerned with a cut that Gradovich suffered from a clash of heads.

Because the injury was caused by an accidental foul, the fight was sent to the scorecards, and Selby was awarded the victory and the IBF featherweight crown with unanimous scores of 79-73, 80-72, 79-73.

Klimas felt the scorecards were way out of line and he disagreed with the doctor's decision to stop the contest. In the fight that followed, Kevin Mitchell's left eye had grotesque swelling and bleeding and the fight was allowed to continue much later than necessary - until Jorge Linares was landing punishing punches without mercy.

"Clearly Evgeny did not lose that fight. I'm not ruling out that he was losing by one or two rounds, but there were five more. The stoppage was unreal. In addition, the cut was opened up by two head clashes and use of the shoulder. And we all know the kind of workrate Evgeny generates in the later rounds," Klimas told Sportbox.
