Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, has serious doubts that WBC champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) will face them in 2014 - even if the Argentine fighter defeats Miguel Cotto on June 7th. Golovkin will return on April 26th at The Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden, likely against Andy Lee.

If Martinez beats Cotto, they are going to approach his team to do a unification clash, but Sanchez doesn't expect the Martinez fight to come together this year.

"Sergio is getting older. I think he's looking for an opportunity to earn good money. I think the fight with Cotto is already done. It appears they are going to fight on June 7. This is a good fight for Martinez. If it turns out that he beats Cotto - then, perhaps, we will discuss a fight between him and Golovkin. But I don't believe that Martinez will want to fight Golovkin," Sanchez said.
