The internet was abuzz with accusations of robbery and conspiracy after Ireland’s Michael Conlan dropped an unjust decision to Vladimir Nikitin.

Conlan appeared to land the heavier, more damaging punches in combination against Nikitin, who put up a good fight of his own, but seemed to be outmatched throughout the bout.

When the decision was announced, Conlan did little to hide his anger, ripping off his Ireland jersey and appeared to flip off each of the judges.

USA Boxing had mixed fortunes during the morning session on Day 11, with bantamweight medal favorite Shakur Stevenson advancing to the medal rounds and light welterweight Gary Russell falling in the quarterfinals.

Stevenson advanced with a win over Mongolia’s Tsendbaatar Erdenebat, outclassing his opponent and using his footwork and counters to dominate.

"That's a B-. I give a higher grade than last time but it's not my best,” Stevenson told NBC Sports’ Chris Mannix. “I got a little winded in the last round. I plan on bringing home the gold.”

Russell fell to Fazliddin Gaibnazarov of Uzbekistan by split decision

(What he feels at this moment) "Disappointment. I feel like I dishonored my family," Russell told Mannix. “...But the judging...I feel like I controlled the pace and won the fight."

One half of the men’s light heavyweight final was decided when Julio Cesar La Cruz of Cuba defeated France’s Mathieu Bauderlique.

He’ll face the winner of tonight’s fight between Joshua Buatsi of Great Britain and Adilbek Niyazymbetoc of Kazakstan.
