Gary Cornish and Sam Sexton will meet next month.

The pair will vie for the vacant British heavyweight title, which was relinquished by Dillian Whyte in January.

Cornish (24-1, 12 KOs), the former Commonwealth title challenger, from Inverness, and Norwich’s former British and Commonwealth title challenger Sexton (23-3, 9 KOs) are set to face off in the ring on May 20.

The fight will take place at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell, Scotland.

Cornish, who has had three points wins since his sole pro defeat to Anthony Joshua back in September 2015, was most recently in action in February and now has a managerial deal with MTK Scotland.

He has been promised a defence of the British title in his home city –– but only if he can beat Sexton, who hasn’t laced up the gloves competitively since July 2016.

Also on the card, Jamie Wilson will fight for the vacant Scottish Area bantamweight title against an opponent to be named and Eddie Doyle is set for a defence of his Scottish Area super-lightweight crown.

Elsewhere, there is action for Charlie Flynn, who returns on April 15 in Glasgow, as well as Martin Taylor, Rhys Pagan, Connor Law and JP McGuinness.
