A big smile was plastered onto the face of Anthony Joshua following his latest performance. With the former heavyweight champ bouncing Robert Helenius’ head off the mat, he felt as though he did exactly what he needed to do in order to prove that he’s still one of the best big men in the world.

But while Joshua is strolling around believing he’s the man around town, Carl Froch was far from impressed with the recent outing.

“That performance was awful,” Froch told iFL TV. “It was terrible. It was such a bad performance in so many ways.”

Despite what Froch had to say, Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) is expected to march straight into a long-awaited showdown against Deontay Wilder. All in all, the former Olympic gold medalist was on the verge of heading into their clash a bit cold. With new trainer Derrick James by his side, Joshua, who had just one fight with him prior, wanted to ensure that the two had a bit more chemistry.

James, additionally, has also expressed pleasure with what Joshua has done up until this point. Froch, on the other hand, sees through what he considers a facade.

From a distance, Froch watched his every move. Before both Joshua and Helenius officially stepped into the ring against one another, the former super middleweight champ had a feeling that Joshua would end the night far quicker than he actually did.

Although he rewatched the tape over and over again, Froch could hardly find anything good to pull away. While he still views Joshua as a talented boxer, at this stage, he isn’t sure if he can become the fearless fighter he once was.

“He was tentative,” continued Froch. “He was gun shy, he looked like he didn’t want to be in there at times.”
