Gavin Rees has the backing of his Matchroom Boxing stable mates as he prepares to face Adrien Broner for the WBC World lightweight title in Atlantic City on Saturday February 16, live on Sky Sports.

Rees is gunning to be crowned a two-weight World champion against the unbeaten Cincinnati star, and three-time World super middleweight champion Carl Froch led the call for the Welshman to rip the title from the grasp of the 23 year old.

“Put a whooping up him - box, move, relax, land your big shots and do the business, do it for you yourself mate and do it for your family,” roared The Cobra.

Darren Barker challenged Sergio Martinez for the World middleweight title in the same venue in October 2011 and urged Rees to “come back with the title” while Liverpool light heavyweight star Tony Bellew added: “Best of luck to my little mate Gavin Rees, the whole of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales are behind you Gav, go in and do the business.”

Carl Frampton is looking for a World title fight of his own this year after becoming the first man to KO Kiko Martinez on Saturday in Belfast and he said: “You have a chance to look amazing on the world stage, you can win this fight and be relentless like you always are.”
