Frank Warren Promotions reached out to BoxingScene.com earlier today to dispute previous reports elsewhere regarding the status of the announced December 15 fight between London’s George Groves (15-0, 12KO), and Glen Johnson (51-17-2, 35KO).

Johnson told World Boxing News that he is unaware of the contest being finalized, only that it was mentioned as a possibility. Similar comments were echoed on the Twitter page of ESPN's Dan Rafael .

Frank Warren Promotions suggests otherwise.

"It's a done deal," Warren's office offered to BoxingScene.com in a brief statement.

Johnson, 43, dropped a decision to Andrzej Fonfara in Canada in July and seemed set for retirement. Pending confirmation of the bout being finalized, he will now meet Groves, 24, at London’s ExCel Arena on December 15.

Groves' Commonwealth super middleweight title will be at stake. The fight comes on the heels of his impressive July 28 demolition of  Francisco Sierra in California.
