Former WBC 115 lbs champion Suriyan Sor Rungvisai was handed the simplest of assignments in Samut Prakan on Friday afternoon. He was matched with an Indonesian opponent he’d already knocked out once and dominated Ricky Manufoe from start to finish in this six rounder.

Suriyan is now plying his trade as a bantamweight and looking to work his way back into contention for a second title shot at 118 lbs after being well beaten by Shinsuke Yamanaka last year. Since then he has won nine straight fights, although the standard of his opposition has been somewhat limited.

The Thai made a slightly cautious start here, looking to establish his jab early in the opening round and following up with the occasional right hand. In the second round Suriyan began to fire hard left hooks to the body of Manufoe, who never looked like he harboured serious ambitions of winning the fight.

The Indonesian did land a right uppercut in the third round and followed it up with a clean left hook a few seconds later but it was practically his only good work of the fight. Otherwise the crowd at Ratchaprasamai School was treated to the sight of Suriyan landing a barrage of left hands to the body with the occasional right upstairs thrown in for good measure.

Manufoe was backpedaling furiously throughout the last two rounds but never looked in serious trouble and this time he managed to go the distance with Suriyan. The win takes the Thai to 46-61 while the Indonesian drops to 23-24-3.

Also on the card was Kongfah Nakornluang. The one beaten super flyweight went six rounds with debutant Petchdaeng Saksuwannee, scoring a decision win which takes his record to 24-1.
