BoxingScene.com recently caught up with undefeated super welterweight Javier "El Chino" Flores (12-0) who faces tough veteran Jaime Herrera (12-3-1) on November 5th at the Fight Night 2015 - Fight for Children event in Washington DC. The fight is scheduled for 10 rounds and the Roc Nation promoted fighter hopes that a victory will lead to a big 2016.

In this Q&A Flores talks about the Herrera fight, the upcoming Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez mega fight and more.

BoxingScene.com: How was your training camp going for your November 5th bout versus Jaime Herrera?

Javier Flores: Training camp has been great. I've been training hard for a full 8 week camp. I'm healthy - no injuries so everything is great. I can wait, I'm ready for November 5th.

BoxingScene.com: Herrera is a tough guy who took the "0" from Michael Finney and Mike Jones and recently had a draw versus Steven Butler (12-0) in Montreal. What do you have to do to make sure you get the win?

Javier Flores: I will leave everything in ring, I know I have to work hard in this fight.  My team is preparing a great plan so it won't matter what Herrera has done in the past. He has to get through me and that won't happen. I am prepared for a war and to bring home the championship to Puerto Rico.

Boxngscene.com: A win moves you to 13-0. What would you like to do after the fight?

Javier Flores: After the fight, I will go back to Puerto Rico to enjoy the holidays with my family.  I really do not take much time off so I will be right back in the gym preparing for my next victim.  I will discuss with my management team, Victory Sports and my promoter, Roc Nation and I hope to be back in the ring early next year in a bigger fight on TV.

BoxingScene.com: Speaking of big fights, a few weeks after your fight the boxing world will turn its attention to Cotto-Alvarez. You probably are a little biased being Puerto Rican but how do you see that fight playing out?

Javier Flores: I see a high quality fight between two great warriors. Miguel Cotto has the experience and has more boxing skills and power. I think that this would give him the victory, so yes I pick Cotto. Canelo is a strong young fighter but I don't know if his power will go with him to this division and to this level of class, unlike Cotto who has proven that his power is effective up there in the division and at the highest levels.

BoxingScene.com: How would you describe your style for all of the fans that haven't yet seen you fight?

Javier Flores: I like to describe myself as a power boxer because I can box from the outside but I can also fight toe to toe if it is necessary. I know Herrera likes to be inside too so it will be a interesting fight to watch. I feel he will come forward, which should make it an exciting fight for the fans.

BoxingScene.com: Do you have a message for all the fans and a prediction for your fight?

Javier Flores: I want to thank all of my fans for their support.  It is a great honor to fight on the Fight for Children event, which is an important charity that helps kids so I am happy to be a part of it and look forward to giving a great performance.  I plan to close the show by knockout on Thursday and bring the belt back with me to Puerto Rico.

The fight card takes place at the Washington Hilton at 1919 Connecticut, NW, Washington, DC and begins at 6pm.
