Welterweight European Boxing Union titleholder Jordy Weiss (32-0-1, 3 KO) will make a voluntary defense of his title Oct. 19 in Laval, France, against Samuel Molina (28-3, 14 KOs), from Spain.

Many experts believe that Weiss got a lucky break when then-mandatory challenger David Avanesyan (30-5-1, 18 KOs) accepted a call from the U.S. to fight world welterweight titleholder Jaron Ennis. However, Weiss – despite lacking quality punching power – is a very good fighter.

Former WBO middleweight titleholder and current promoter Armand Krajnc is putting together a show in Gothenburg, Sweden, for Oct. 12. Headlining again – and again for a vacant minor women’s junior bantamweight title – is Linn Sandstrom (8-3-3, 2 KOs), who hails from Vaxjo, Sweden, and lives in Sydney, New South Wales.

Sandstrom will fight an opponent to be announced. She did the same roughly a year ago when she fought Johana Zuniga to a technical draw last May. Sandstrom has since challenged for the WBA world title at 115 pounds, in April, but she fell to Clara Lascuet.
