Lightweight Eduardo Escobedo (32-3, 23KOs) is confident about the scheduled fight with IBF champion Billy Dib (33-1, 20KOs), taking place on the 7th of March in Tasmania, Australia. Escobedo started training the moment he was advised of a deal by his promoter Hector Garcia of HG Boxing. Escobedo has not been stopped in a single fight since 2004 and lost only one bout since 2007, when he was decisioned in twelve rounds by hard puncher Daniel Ponce De Leon. Escobedo won a final eliminator last July when he knocked out Joksan Hernandez in two rounds.

"I know what kind of fighter he is, and I need to develop a game place to win in his backyard. To those who know me, I say trust me, I will return from Australia as a world champion. I have enough time to achieve an excellent preparation. A few days ago I started sparring and what I need is speed. Dib is a fighter who always moves on his legs, hits and runs, and he must be slowed down. I know it will not be easy, but I will return from Australia with the championship in my grasp," Escobedo said.
