Pugilistic Promotions returns February 11th at 8:30 pm, with another installment of “Badia Spices Friday Night Fights” at the Magic City Casino. The main event is a hot one, and a potential fight of the year candidate.  IBO Latin American middleweight champion Eromosele Albert of Nigeria, who won the belt in November with a 9th round TKO over Joaquin Zamora, takes on Cuban born Lester Gonzalez in a 10 round bout.  The winner positions himself for a possible shot at a world championship.

Albert (23-4-1, 11 KOs), who now resides in Miami, is a former amateur star who has notched big wins over former world champion Yory Boy Campas, and Daniel Edouard.  He’s appeared nationally on ESPN2, and HBO.  Albert has a tendency to throw punch, after punch, after punch without tiring, always providing the crowd with action, and thus making him one of the most exciting fighters in the sport.

His opponent isn’t afraid to trade either.  Lester Gonzalez (11-2-1, 6 KOs) is a southpaw who will go toe-to-toe with anybody.  His 2009 draw with Juan Camilo Novoa, which was eight rounds of heavy exchanges, was Telemundo’s fight of the year.  He also holds a big win over highly regarded Ibahiem King, and his two losses have come against top prospects Brandon Gonzales, and Chris Chatman.

Gonzalez was also a decorated amateur winning three international medals, and the Golden Gloves in 2004.  He now looks to win his first title as a professional prizefighter.

Also on the card will be lightweight prospect Rances Barthelemy (9-0, 7 KOs) of Cuba, and his brother Leduan Barthelemy, who makes his pro debut in a junior featherweight bout.  Both are the younger siblings of former Olympic gold medalist Yan Barthelemy.

Rances takes on Bryne Green (5-4, 3 KOs) in a six round fight, while little brother Leduan faces Shane Tenney (0-2) in four round bout.

Cuban heavyweight Glendy Hernandez (4-0, 2 KOs) will make his third “Badia Spices Friday Night Fights” appearance when he takes on heavy-handed Jerry Butler (10-8-1, 9 KOs) who has a draw with Venezuelan Wilmer Vasquez.

The fighting barber returns as Jessy Cruz (3-2, 1 KO), a decorated U.S. amateur boxer looks to hand Ricardo Hernandez (4-0, 1 KO) his first pro loss in four round bantamweight action.

Puro Pairol (2-0-1, 1 KO) of Cuba faces 28-fight veteran Jean-Petit Homme in a four round lightweight bout.  It will be Pairol’s toughest test to date.

In a light heavyweight division bout Yunieski Gonzalez (2-0, 2 KOs) takes on debuting Chris Kahn.  Gonzalez is a former amateur star in Cuba, while Kahn was a kickboxer with 40 fights.

In the night’s first fight junior welterweight Chris Velez (1-0-1, 1 KO) faces Alejandro Artola in a four round fight.
