Junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara (15-1-1, 10KOs) has responded to BoxingScene.com's recent interview with Paul "The Punisher" Williams (40-2, 27KOs). In the interview, Williams discussed several topics, including his controversial majority decision win over Lara from July. Williams and Lara are being discussed for a tentative doubleheader on January 21.

BoxingScene.com: How do you feel about Williams saying you would hit him with only one or two shots per round?

The way his faced ended up I guess they were hard shots. I landed 224 punches to his 200. I landed at a 50% ratio. Look, Paul williams is a tremendous fighter I was the better man than night. Period.

BoxingScene.com: Would you fight Williams outside of 154lbs?

I would fight Williams in three different weight classes. We can do 147, 154 or 160 we can fight 3 weeks in a row at those 3 weight classes it doesn't matter I'm a fighter. But hey I feel Williams needs a tune-up fight he isn't ready for the rematch right now.

BoxingScene.com: He said your style didn't throw him off that you did a lot of running? Your thoughts?

I'd have a lot more respect for Williams if he's admit like a man he lost. How can he say he won? HBO had it 9-3. There wasn't one ringside commentator or writer that had him winning. So let me guess you and Peterson and the 3 stooges are the only one who think you won?

BoxingScene.com: How do you think a rematch would play out?

Williams is a big guy who throws lots of punches you gotta respect that. Any fighter who steps in the ring I respect it takes courage. I think it would be a tough fight. I guarantee you one thing he's gonna take the first step backwards. I would go for the knockout.

BoxingScene.com: Do you ever think he will face you again?

If he does great, if he doesn't great. All the fans saw who won the fight and that's who I care about. I work so hard and train so my fans can say 'hey my guy won tonight' and on July 9 when I beat Williams my fans were ecstatic. So if he wants to wash the blood stains away here I am if not I'm still here to fight the best fighters in the world.

BoxingScene.com:  In closing?

There's very few fighters that can look in the Mirror and say 'I don't duck nobody.' It makes me sleep good at night. I fight for all Latinos, Americans, Europeans across the world. I love all my fans and I promise you one thing I will always be ready to fight anyone, anytime, anywhere. Thanks Gatos!
