Over the last few weeks, there has been some very heavy discussion regarding a possible junior welterweight unification on December 10th, which is the scheduled return date of WBA/IBF champion Amir Khan. The British superstar is looking to face the winner of the upcoming fight between Erik Morales and Lucas Matthysse, who clash on September 17th in Las Vegas for the vacant WBC title.

Morales has gone on the record, and made it known that he won't face Khan in 2011, but left the door open for a possible fight in 2012. The Mexican warrior returned to the sport in 2010, after spending two and a half years in retirement. Morales wants to further sharpen his skills before a potential unification with Khan.

"The press has talked about a fight against Khan, but the truth is, at this moment I do not intend to fight him this year because I think that I need to continue to raise my level [of boxing] after spending two and a half years in retirement. I've slowly recovered my boxing, little by little, and I'm doing some good things in the ring," Morales said.
